Planning information has always been hard to gather and keep current. Today, that changes. We’ve partnered with TerraQuest, the team behind the national Planning Portal, to bring richer, faster planning application insights into Searchland.

Earlier visibility and better-quality planning information help the sector build a clearer picture of proposed development. By structuring, checking and enriching application information, TerraQuest makes it easier to understand what’s coming forward, assess sites in context and make better-informed decisions.

Searchland and TerraQuest partner on richer, faster planning information

New planning applications now reach Searchland sooner than any other land sourcing platform, with richer detail on affordable housing mix, unit split and bedroom numbers. All of it is structured and quality-assured by TerraQuest’s insights team before it reaches you.

New planning applications on Searchland

New planning applications now appear in Searchland alongside everything else you use to assess a site:

  • New applications appear on the map, clearly labelled so you always know where it is in the process.
  • You see what’s planned at a glance: the site boundary, the type of application, what’s proposed and how many homes.
  • You get richer, structured detail on new applications, including affordable housing mix, unit split and bedroom numbers, all quality-assured by TerraQuest.
  • The site is ready to assess straight away, with titles, ownership and planning constraints.
  • As each application progresses, Searchland keeps it matched up, so you can follow it through to a decision.

Why richer planning insight matters

A new application is one of the clearest signals that a site is coming forward. With structured detail on what’s proposed, you can judge what it means for you far more quickly.

  • Land and new homes teams can see where other developers and promoters are active, and what they’re proposing, and adjust their own search accordingly.
  • Land agents can keep track of what’s being proposed in the areas they cover.
  • Planning consultants can see what’s proposed near a client’s site, including homes, mix, rather than piecing it together from council records.
  • Housebuilders tracking supply get a clearer, more detailed view of where new homes are being proposed.

A more complete planning picture

Through our partnership with TerraQuest, Searchland is the only land-sourcing platform bringing TerraQuest’s planning information to its users in this level of detail.

It’s the latest addition to what has become an increasingly complete planning picture. Over the past few months we’ve added planning enforcements, public comments, site activity and planning committees, plus Ask AI to help you query it all in plain English. Richer, faster planning application information from TerraQuest adds to that picture.

“Planning insights have always been hard to gather and keep current. Working with TerraQuest means our users get new applications sooner and in far more detail, structured and quality-assured before they reach Searchland. For land teams, that’s a clearer picture of what’s being proposed and where. For the sector, it’s a better view of where development is heading, and it helps unlock sites that might otherwise be missed.”

Arthur Goodhart, Head of Data at Searchland

“Planning shouldn’t be a guessing game. We’ve had consistent feedback that too often, developers, landowners and their advisers invest thousands in a scheme before they can see what else is coming forward around it. At TerraQuest, we’re investing to change that, turning planning information into structured, quality-assured insight. Searchland has been a brilliant partner, and we’re excited to be working with them to put that insight in the hands of the people finding and shaping sites, from national housebuilders to SME developers. They can make better-informed decisions, bring forward stronger applications and spend less on schemes that were never going to work. Better information means better schemes, planning that moves faster, and more homes. That’s how we help get the country building.”

Dan Williams, Chief Revenue Officer, TerraQuest
