The UK’s energy landscape is evolving, and with it, there is a need for smarter insights into energy generation projects. As the leading prop-tech platform in the UK, we’re the first to release an Electrical Generation Tool. This Includes:

The Embedded Capacity Register (ECR) provides electricity network stakeholders with up-to-date information on generation and storage resources (≥50kW) that are connected or approved to connect to National Grid’s distribution network. Updated monthly, it offers valuable insights for planning and decision-making.

Clean Power 30 (CP30) Targets – Access all CP30 targets, fully mapped and cleaned, with their calculated date-accepted cut-off dates to assess project viability.

The Embedded Capacity Register in Searchland
The Embedded Capacity register (ECR) provides visibility into existing and planned connections, helping you make smarter siting decisions

What does his data mean for energy providers and developers?

Our Electrical Generation Tool brings together data directly from the National Electricity System Operator (NESO) and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs). This means you can now access information on projects of all sizes - from large-scale (100MW+) to smaller distributed projects - all mapped out in a clear, interactive format.

The best part? We've aligned all our tools with the Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, ensuring you gain actionable insights and practical pathways to achieve your energy generation goals.

Our tool allows you to:

  • Visualise all operating and ‘accepted to connect’ electrical generation projects on a national scale.

  • Identify areas of opportunity with Clean Power 2030 targets - analyse regional energy needs and track progress towards 2030 and 2035 targets for solar, battery storage, and wind generation.

  • Explore key details about each electrical generation project, including:
    • Energy source
    • Project size (measured in MW)
    • Connection status (connected or scheduled to connect)
    • Full connection pathway, from primary connection to grid level
    • Date of acceptance and connection
    • Single or hybrid energy sources

  • Filter projects by:
    • Energy type: solar, wind, biofuel, etc.
    • Infrastructure type: distribution or transmission
    • Status: connected or scheduled to connect

And because we update this data every 7 days, you’ll always have access to the latest project pipelines.

A new way to map the UK’s energy future

Our interactive map visually represents energy generation projects by size, with larger circles indicating higher electrical generation capacity. Each project displays a detailed breakdown of its specifications and connection status.

Smarter energy insights, better decisions

Our graph view provides a deeper analysis of ECR data at any scale - whether by area, region, or specific DNO territories. With this feature, you can explore:

  • Total megawatt capacity for connected and accepted-to-connect projects
  • Queued scheduled projects, including their acceptance year
  • Distribution of energy sources across different regions
View energy data with our dynamic charts and graphs
Forget spreadsheets - explore data via our interactive heatmaps and dynamic visualisations

These insights empower users to identify high-potential locations for new energy projects based on Clean Power 2030 targets and regional energy trends, assess connection risks, and compare projects within the planning pipeline.

With the latest technology at your fingertips, your energy company can stay ahead of the competition by making smarter, data-driven decisions.

Our Electrical Generation Tool covers England, Wales and Scotland and is available to Professional users. If you’d like a tour of the new feature, please get in touch and request a demo.
